I was always so fascinated by the women of India with their colours and shakti strength, and at the age of 21, I traded my ballet shoes for sandals and was led from Australia to the fiery deserts of Rajasthan Northern India to live a more simple spiritual life in the ashram of Jadan.
For seven years, I was immersed in the daily rituals of yoga and preparing food for monks, wandering sadhus, the different holy festivals, and the daily pujas, divine offerings.
Being so close to the earth, its people and the simple village ways of life, like carrying water in clay pots, cooking on fire and watching the genius ways the women would stone grind wild sesame into oil so they could moisturize their hair, gave me such a deep respect for this way of beauty.
With playful hypnotic eyes, and cheeky smiles the Indian women taught me how to live in harmony with nature and appreciate the beauty of simplicity which now has inspired me on my path with ELAIO.
